LEAVINGS : A Collaboration with Shawn Hall

Front Room at Carrera Stone | New Orleans, LA
2017

Though their individual art takes disparate form and uses divergent materials, Rachel and Shawn connect through their common draw to the natural world. As a painter and multimedia performance artist, Shawn contributed color and visual technology to this body of work.

This art installation explores the intersection between Rachel's social justice advocacy and Shawn’s environmentalism. This work is a homage to the industrial age and its overwhelming impact and refuse. It was inspired by the appalling amount of plastic garbage strewn across the nation, along with the seeming lack of awareness and consciousness in our communities.
