You come to us with a project concept, for example “I want a built-in cabinet with liquor shelving and a sculptural television hideaway.” We will ask you questions about the size, your desired style and any inspirations or keywords. 

From there, we will quote a design fee. This begins the orientation phase and the initial agreement. The design fee is determined in part by how many hours Rachel projects working on the concept drawings, and in part by the total project cost. Upon receipt of the fee, we will provide 2-4 digital illustrations for your feedback. This is the time to determine what you are looking for and to work out all of the details. Your participation and input are invaluable! 

Whether you are asking for a one of a kind sculptural object that is a product solely of Rachel’s imagination, or a piece of furniture that you have a vision for and want her to execute, your participation is key to success down the line. We will provide up to two revisions and then flesh out the design for your final approval. 

Once the proposed drawings and project cost are approved, we will submit an invoice for the design and build fee. Payment schedules are typically 50% once designs are agreed upon, and 50% upon shipment, delivery or installation. Once payment has been made, a contractual agreement exists between RED Metal and the client. We agree that each party will fulfill our obligations of fabrication and timely payment with prompt communication throughout the process. 

Should designs need to be altered from the client, we will send a change order and invoice accordingly. 

RED Metal will keep you informed of the progression of your custom piece, and send you photos of your new piece during various stages of completion. Ultimately, the final date set for project completion depends on all approvals and shop timeline.

Most pieces take roughly 6 to 12 weeks after the final design has been approved. If there is a crucial deadline, please let us know as soon as possible so we can try to make the necessary arrangements. 

RED Metal requires balance paid upon shipment, delivery or installation unless otherwise noted. Any other terms must be agreed upon by both parties and noted on the invoice.

Delivery and/or installation is the responsibility of the buyer, unless otherwise noted. We will often refer you to an installation team who knows Rachel’s work and can help.
